Shocking new claim airs on television -- we have the video -- Angle's lawyers issue ridiculous denial
The story surrounding TNA World Champion Kurt Angle's arrest last week just keeps getting worse. Apparently, Angle had a mouthful of pills, claimed to be anti-inflammatory medication, when he was arrested for drunk driving by Moon Township Police.
Moon Township Police Chief Leo McCarthy confirmed the pill story to Pittsburgh television station KDKA-TV.
Here is the report from the television station: kdka.com - Wrestler Kurt Angle Arrested For DUI.
Yahoo Video News picked up the story, making it available to a worldwide audience interested in the story, which you can see here: Yahoo!
Meanwhile, in a ridiculous display of denial, attorneys for Angle released a press statement, claiming "Kurt Angle maintains his innocence relative to the charges brought by the police in this matter. The improper arrest occurred in the middle of the afternoon after Mr. Angle showed no signs of intoxication. The police have no blood alcohol content and not firsthand knowledge of his operation of his vehicle. We believe the motivation for this arrest is based upon Kurt Angle's celebrity status and we are confident that we will prevail when the truth becomes evident."
Here is the latest from TMZ: Wrestling Star Popped for DUI .
A TNA wrestler who spoke on the condition of anonymity told www.wrestlingnewsdesk.com "this is a cause for major concern. What was he doing, getting drunk at 2:00 in the afternoon? And the mouth filled with anything but candy is something to worry about. And this happens on the week TNA expands to 2 hours? Would anyone else get away with this? It's the same thing he pulled in WWE."
The Pittsburgh Post Gazette ran a story on the arrest, which you can read here: Wrestler Angle arrested on drunken driving charge.
Angle's drunk driving arrest has dominated headlines about TNA on the week the company has expanded its programming to 2 hours on the SpikeTV.
