Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) has made its first public comment regarding World Wrestling Entertainment's decision to relocate all the developmental talent to the Tampa, Florida area. In an article posted today on Kentucky.com (http://www.kentucky.com/101/story/315632.html) , reporter Scott Sloan wrote the following:

World Wrestling Entertainment has severed its ties with a Louisville-based wrestling company that served as its training ground for young stars.
The split late last week from Ohio Valley Wrestling, in favor of a Florida company, means a dozen or so personalities will be on the move.

Talent aside, a spokeswoman for OVW said fans won't notice many changes, as the company's TV deal on a Louisville CW station will remain as will its traveling shows.

"Everything still goes on as usual," said spokeswoman Julie Miller. "It's just a change of faces."

WWE is opting to centralize its talent development at Tampa's Florida Championship Wrestling, which is run by former WWE wrestler Steve Keirn, who competed as Skinner.

WWE announced its work with that facility in November, noting that it includes four wrestling rings and 35 wrestlers under contract. It plans to increase that number to 70, the company said.

The developmental leagues serve as a training ground for tomorrow's stars. During its near decade-long relationship with WWE, OVW trained stars including John Cena, Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar.

And while its roster will take a hit as more than a dozen stars, including Atlas DaBone and Colt Cabana, relocate to Florida, OVW retains plenty of other wrestlers, Miller said.

The future is unclear, though, for Al Snow, a former Extreme Championship Wrestling and WWE star who served as a trainer under contract by WWE, Miller said.

The roster losses may be supplemented by wrestlers from OVW's sister company, Derby City Wrestling. That promotion had served as a training ground for OVW, Miller said. Both promotions will continue.
