The main event for tonight's EliteXC card live on the CBS Television Network has been scrapped as Ken Shamrock has been medically disqualified from competing against Kimbo Slice by the Florida State Athletic Commission. Officials determined a training mishap had left 44-year-old Shamrock unable to be cleared for the fight.

"He received six sutures in the eyebrow," said Dr. Alan Fields of the FSAC. "He explained that he wanted to fight, however for his safety, we have rules. Anyone with a recent laceration cannot go participate in a fight."

Shamrock's adopted brother, Frank, who is a commentator on the EliteXC card, ripped the veteran fighter for training hard enough for an accident to happen the night before a fight, and said  that Ken had damaged the family legacy.

It is believed an accidental headbutt opened the cut.

"To me this is dumb, I've fought through an ACL injury," Shamrock told a CBS reporter. "I was just warming up and getting loose when it happened."

In Shamrock's place on the card will be local fighter Seth (The Silverback) Petruzelli, who is 8-2. He was on The Ultimate Fighter Season 2 and trained under Rich Franklin.

There was a lot of chaos behind the scenes as Slice had reportedly initially claimed he would only fight Shamrock, but eventually agreed to the substitution with just hours to go before the fight.
