In a blockbuster opening for Monday Night Raw, Jim Ross came out to give his Raw Farewell Address. He was interrupted after a while by Edge, who was with Ryder and Hawkins. Smackdown World Champion Edge had Ryder and Hawkins escort JR out of the building. Edge did a tremendous heel promo. As he was leaving, Batista came out for his only appearance on the show and it was an impactful one as Batista beat up Edge severely and finished him off with a Batista Bomb. As Batista was leaving, out came CM Punk with a referee and he cashed in Money In The Bank, hit the GTS, and won the title.

 

Punk also pinned JBL in the main event with a wild brawl going on at ringside between JBL's security force, who threw John Cena out of the building earlier, getting into a wild fight with Cena and Cryme Time.
