www.wrestlingnewsdesk.com  is exclusively reporting at this hour that the agent/producers meeting today was a very interesting one regarding who should walk out with the WWE Championship tonight.
While the original plan was for Randy Orton to do everything in his power to "make" Jeff Hardy, the end result would be a classic title match, with Pat Patterson laying out the scenarios as the choreographer (known as "agent" or "producer" backstage in pro wrestling), and Orton scoring the pinfall after a scheduled 20 minutes.
 
But Hardy's momentum is undeniable, as without Rob Van Dam in WWE, and with Rey Mysterio practically grounded nowadays, Hardy's extreme style has really propelled him to the top of the popularlity list. "WWE has what veterans of the industry like to call Lightning In A Bottle with Hardy," commented Wrestling News Desk editor Matthew Cooper,  whose site will be covering the event match-by-match tonight, "they have someone that has tapped into the youth's consciousness. While Hardy is not the stererotypical babyface (wrestling jargin for "hero") in the eyes of The McMahons, his popularlity is at an all time high, and a title change might just be in order."

As of 6:00 pm tonight, the other wrestlers have not been clued in as to whether Orton or Hardy will win the title match. There is said to be a rather compelling argument that Orton has done his job masterfully, and Hardy's popularity is a direct result of Orton's hard work as the villain, or "heel."

But who can really tell? And would WWE be remiss not to attempt to shoot Hardy to the top of the heap with a "miracle victory" over the Legend Killer tonight?
 
Usually, The Royal Rumble match itself is the dominant topic of conversation going into the annual pay per view event. But tonight, perhaps for the 1st time ever, it's a singles' match, featuring a third generation wrestler (Orton) and one-half of a high flying brother tag team (Jeff) that has captured the public's imagination.
