A very interesting story has been posted on THE VILLAGE VOICE BLOGS
regarding the latest tragedy in pro wrestling, the tragic tragic death of
nine-year-old Damori Miles, who jumped off a Brooklyn,
New York apartment building roof on Tuesday with a parachute that
he made from string and a plastic bag, is being attributed to the THQ
WWE video game "WWE Smackdown."
The scary part of the story is that it doesn't examine whether or not the
game itself leads to such events, which I have to say I personally do not think
the game does, but rather that some people speculating on that debate are
opening themselves up to a lawsuit from World Wrestling Entertainment.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon's global sports entertainment organization has
quite the reputation when it comes to legal maneuvering, doesn't it? Especially
for a guy who on E:60 this week went out of his way to repeat his oft-stated
feelings that he detests attorneys.
Except his own, I guess.
Interesting story. Highly recommended.
