WWE HALL OF FAMER MICK FOLEY COMMENTS ON HIS DECISION TO JOIN TNA WRESTLING Print E-mail

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley was interview by Kevin Eck of THE BALTIMORE SUN and discussed many topics, including his decision to leave World Wrestling Entertainment and join TNA Wrestling.

Some highlights:

When asked what went into his decision to leave WWE, Foley stated  "I just had a real feeling that I had done everything that I possibly could in WWE. I was just dead weight, showing up once in a while doing things like being a judge on “Raw Idol” and for an occasional backstage vignette. I was given a chance to try announcing, and it was a job that in the end I did not care for very much. And so I was really just looking for an opportunity to do something meaningful in wrestling."

When asked about WWE Chairman Vince McMahon barking orders in his headset, which www.wrestlingnewsdesk.com exclusively reported before anyone else was the reason for Foley's departure, Foley said "It’s a very small circle of people who’ve actually had experience commentating for WWE, and for those people there is actually no explanation necessary. It’s something that the guys all kind of laugh about. But in my opinion, his style of producing makes things a lot more difficult than they need to be. I think in most cases Vince’s judgments are right, but when it comes to producing announcers, I know in my case it wasn’t the most effective way."

In regards to TNA Wrestling being competition to WWE, Foley opined  "I’m not sure that’s the goal any more than it was [TNA majority shareholder] Panda Energy’s goal to be competition for Exxon Mobil. [TNA president] Dixie Carter’s father kind of saw the future in alternate fuel services, and has proven that you don’t have to out-drill Exxon Mobil to be very successful in the energy business. So I don’t think that we need to out-produce WWE in order to be very successful. I think that’s the goal – to be very successful, not to try to claim some bogus bragging right to being No. 1."
