THE ASSOCIATED PRESS has posted a major story on the
stunt. The AP story says An elaborate array of mounted and handheld
video cameras caught the crowd of 1,600's reaction as the two men "went right up
to the line" of the city's morality laws, Holland said. The two men stripped
down to their underwear, kissed and rubbed on each other, the sergeant
said.
LIVE NEWS AUSTRALIA reported on the faux-MMA show,
saying A crowd enticed by the prospect of intense cage
fighting and $1 beers were surprised to witness men ripping off each others
clothes, and kissing – and some suspected the gag to be the work of professional
prankster Sasha Baron Cohen.The venue for the prank was at “Blue Collar Brawlin”
at the Four States Fair Grounds in Little Rock, Arkansas. And on June 6, event
organizers were notified of a character named “Straight Dave”, who would entice
a member of the crowd to come into the ring.But the 1600-plus crowd at the event
was not expecting the two men to strip down to their underwear, and rub up
against each other whilst kissing, and they quickly became
enraged.
THE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS also reported on the stunt,
headlining with ARKANSAS WRESTLERS KISS AND MAKE UP FOR NEW FILM BY
CREATOR OF BORAT. The article, written by Dave Goldiner, states
The elaborate stunt is expected to be part of Cohen's next big flick
called "Bruno," in which he plays a campy gay fashion reporter from Austria.
Spectators at the Blue Collar Brawlin' event were
promised "hot chicks, cold beer, and hardcore fights" but got a little bit more
when another Cohen character, "Straight Dave," pulled an audience member into
the ring. The audience member was in on Cohen's scheme
and all hell broke loose when the two stripped to their tighty whiteys and
locked lips. "It was all staged to get a reaction,"
said Karin Hobbs of the Ft. Smith Convention Center. "The crowd went nuts when
they started making out."
