In case you missed it with all the hype surrounding the two huge MMA events
this weekend, UFC has announced it will debut in Chicago on October 25th with
UFC 90. You can read all about it

UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva destroyed James Irvin in 61
seconds Saturday night in his UFC Light Heavyweight debut at the Palms in Las
Vegas. Silva, the dominant champion in UFC's 185 pound division, was fighting
for the first time at the higher weight class of 205 in a free UFC Fight
Night on SpikeTV designed to counter-program the Affliction:Banned MMA pay
per view event. Irvin, a power puncher who was coming off an
amazing eight-second TKO of the popular Houston Alexander in his
last fight, threw a kick, which was caught by Silva, who cracked Irvin in the
face. Down went Irvin. It was all over. Silva pounced on Irvin, and just
pummeled him with punches, but that first punch had already done the trick.
Silva was the winner in just 61 seconds.
After the fight the Brazilian
Silva told commentator/interviewer Joe Rogan through a translator, "My
responsiblity is to defend the 185-pound title. But I want to be involved in the
biggest fights. If it's at 205, great."
In other results, the not-so-impressive Brandon Vera, once thought to be
one of UFC's shining stars, did not look impressive at all as he dropped down
from the heavyweight division to the light heavyweight division, and defeated
Reese Andy by unanimous decision after 3 rounds.
Frankie Edgar beat Hermes Franca by unanimous decision after 3
rounds.
Cain Velasquez beat Jake O'Brien by TKO at 2:02 in Round 1.
Kevin Burns beat Anthony Johnson by TKO at 3:35 in Round 1 in a
controversial decision since Burns accidentally thumbed Johnson in the eye,
which the referee did not see. After the match, Burns told Joe Rogan that his
hand is always open because he's broken it 3 times and he admitted the eye poke,
but claimed it was unintentional.
C.B. Dollaway beat Jesse Taylor by submission to the Peruvian
Neck Tie at 3:58 in Round 1.
Tim Credeur beat Cale Yarbrough by TKO at 1:54 in Round 1.
Rory Markham beat Brodie Farber by KO at 1:47 in Round 1.
Nate Loughran beat Johnny Rees by submission via the triangle choke at
4:21 in Round 1.
Brad Blackburn beat James Gaboo by TKO at 2:29 in Round 2.
Shannon Gugerty beat Dale Hartt by submission with a rear naked choke at
3:33 in Round 1.
