Todd Beard, the controversial owner of the Affliction T-shirt company, has shockingly resigned from the company following reports of an investigation by UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture and his wife Kim in which it emerged that Beard had a history of criminal activity.

Randy and Kim Couture made the discovery after hiring a private investigator as a result of Kim Couture’s lawsuit against Beard. This comes after  Kim had taken out a restraining order against Beard, preventing him from attending UFC 91, claiming Beard had made threats against her.

Beard apologized for his behavior towards the Couture family and said he would be seeking help for anger management and alcohol abuse.

Beard is one of the original founders of the clothing company based in Seal Beach, California, but is not the President of the division presenting the MMA shows that have Fedor Emelianenko as the main event.

In a statement just released, Beard stated : ”I would like to apologize for my comments that may have offended Kim and Randy Couture and Mr. Spira. I had a long-standing relationship with the Coutures and I was deeply and emotionally hurt by some of their recent business decisions. I have only the best of intentions for the success of the Affliction and Xtreme Couture clothing brands and understand that there are personal issues I must address.”

A statement released by Affliction’s board of directors read: “We are delighted Todd has decided to address these issues and wish Randy Couture well.”
