On the bright side, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson looked great as the special
unadvertised surprise guest at UFC's press conference at the Mall of America in
the Twin Cities.
On the other side, how could the State of California let him leave the
state?
We're only half-joking.
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, up on
felony charges in California for his bizarre truck rampage through town in which
now a woman is blaming him for her miscarriage, thanked Ultimate Fight prexy
Dana White for looking after him when it all hit the fan.
"I love Dana, man, he was the first one there to take care of me and show me
his love," Rampage stated at the press conference, "That's all I needed,
for someone to show me some love, baby. I love all you guys."
White commented, "They took him in for psychiatric evaluation for over 72
hours and what they came back with was that there was nothing wrong with him
mentally. It was physical. He was exhausted, had extreme dehydration and that
caused something called delirium."
The controversial head of UFC added, "They tell us he's over it now. He is
healthy mentally and physically and will be back in the UFC soon."
White said Jackson stuck around Las Vegas and didn't eat after losing his
title. Jackson, in an interview, said he stopped eating and sleeping because he
was "hurt by some personal problems." He did not elaborate.
"I'm happy to be out and be a regular person again," Jackson, who is 30
years old, stated, "All I needed was sleep. I got it - and (to) eat and
drink water. I'm OK now."
Jackson acknowledged the weight he gained during a 10-month period away from
fighting hurt him against Griffin. "It was my own fault. I fought Forrest when I
was at my worst. I still thought I won but that's my opinion."
Jackson is back training, but without the services
of manager/trainer Juanito Ibarra, as the two split recently.
But Jackson is concentrating on working through all the issues first. "I just
wanted everybody to know I'm doing fine ... I'm good," Jackson exclaimed, "The
UFC's got my back."
But Jackson still has to sort out his legal concerns. A court appearance is
slated for later this month."Obviously with what happened, he's got some legal
issues he's got to deal with now, definitely," White acknowledged.
Jackson was even philosophical about his legal issues. "Everything
happens for a reason," he said, "What happens, happens."
