In Las Vegas, where your 15 minutes of fame lasts 30 seconds, Brock Lesnar is the talk of the town.

The former WWE Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion will make his UFC cage fighting debut this Saturday night against former Ultimate Fight World Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir, who is most famous for snapping Tim Sylvia's arm in half en route to winning the title. Mir himself has an interesting story to tell, as his championship reign came to end not by tap out or knockout, but because he was sidelined for over a year after a devastating motorcycle accident.

Lesnar, the 2-1 favorite to win, takes nothing for granted. "They put a lot of time and effort into promoting this thing," Lesnar stated this morning as part of the promotional tour behind the event, "I'm gonna try to come in and make a huge impact in this sport. I was a 4-time All-American, NCAA Champion, Big Ten Champion. I only know one way, and that's balls to the wall. Let's get in there, see what we got. I'm in this for the long haul."
Some still question whether Lesnar is in over his head. "He's a 2-1 favorite even though he's only fought once in MMA, and that was in a ring last year," commented www.wrestlingnewsdesk.com editor Matthew Cooper, whose site has provided the ultimate insider coverage of Lesnar's UFC  debut. "Either he's going to be unimpressive, and life in UFC will go back to normal, with Chuck Liddell fighting, Randy Couture's fallout with Dana White, and Tito Ortiz's relationship with Jenna Jameson dominating headlines ... or Lesnar will become, as UFC Prexy Dana White stated on the commercials that ran on both WWE and TNA Wrestling programming this week, the biggest star in all of Mixed Martial Arts."

Lesnar's former pro wrestling rival, Rob Van Dam stated earlier this week,  "Brock is ten times as strong as he looks. Maybe they just think of him as a pro wrestler, when in fact, he only did that for a few years of his life, maybe? He's a physical freak of nature. Just because he doesn't have a long MMA record does not mean he suffers from lack of experience. I saw him pummel that poor bastard at his MMA debut here in Los Angeles. I wasn't surprised. Frank Mir is no push-over, but my money's on you, Brock."

Wrestling News Desk's Cooper sums it up. "When Lesnar debuted in WWE, he had one of the all time best talkers in the game, Paul Heyman, doing his talking for him. No one would doubt that a world class athlete teamed with a A+ talker would shoot to the top of the wrestling world. This weekend, it's Lesnar's physical abilities that will do all the talking inside the cage. No one should doubt this debut, either."

UFC 81: Breaking Point takes place this Saturday night, February 2, at the Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas.
