An excellent story has been posted in several Canadian newspapers and websites by THE CANADIAN PRESS about tomorrow night's UFC 87 showdown between Brock Lesnar and Heath Herring. You can check out one of the postings in THE OTTAWA SUN,  which you can in its entirety HERE

Size doesn't seem to matter to Heath "The Texas Crazy Horse" Herring. Neither do Brock Lesnar's amateur wrestling credentials.

When Herring (29-13-1) looks at the enormous Lesnar (1-1), a former NCAA wrestling champion who went on to star in the WWE, he sees a green MMA fighter.

"This isn't my first rodeo by any means," said Herring. "I've fought bigger guys, I've fought better wrestlers, so he's not really bringing anything to the table that I haven't seen before.

"He, for sure though, is going to encounter a new guy. This is going to be his first foray with a guy that is looking to kick and punch and hurt him every chance he gets."

The heavyweight matchup tomorrow at the Target Center is the co-main event of UFC 87 (available on pay-per-view). Montreal's Georges St. Pierre defends his welterweight title against Jon Fitch in the headline bout.

For Lesnar, the bout is almost a must-win. The UFC has done the big man no favours by matching him first vs. ex-champion Frank Mir (a submission loss) and now Herring.

"Nobody wants to watch a loser," Lesnar said. "My back's up against the wall probably."

UFC president Dana White said Lesnar knew what he was getting into when he signed his contract.

"I told him when I met him, I said, 'Brock, you've got one fight. The UFC is not the place to learn how to fight, man. You should get some fights in these smaller shows.' He said, 'No, that's not me. I want to fight the best. That's what I want.' "

"Well that's what you're going to get in the UFC."

NO 'SLOUCHES'

Lesnar, who acknowledges he has "jumped into the shark tank," remembers the conversation.

"From Day 1, when me and Dana sat down and talked about this, I didn't want any slouches. He said you're not going to get handed any slouches in this company. And I said I don't want any.

"I've got Heath Herring Saturday night," he added.

At 6-foot-3 and 265 lbs., Lesnar has a 36-inch waist is built like a refrigerator with a crew cut, arms and legs. Herring, 30, may not have the bulk of Lesnar, but he is in fighting trim at 6-4 and 250.
