In a move of last resort, Affliction has dropped out of the promotion business. The company will go back to being an apparel provider, including for UFC events.

It all happened very fast. The main event scheduled for August 1st was Fedor Emelianenko vs Josh Barnett, but Barnett failed a California State Athletic Commission drug screening. Affliction then tried to find a replacement for Barnett.

The company failed to find a replacement. Their backs up against the wall, Affliction folded their MMA promotional business and cut a deal to return to UFC as a sponsor.

"We are excited about the return of Affliction to the UFC and look forward to seeing our fighters once again walk into the octagon wearing the Affliction brand," UFC president Dana White said. "Affliction is an innovator of mixing fashion with this sport."

Affliction co-founder Eric Foss confirmed the new business relationship with the UFC. "Our brand is synonymous with the 'Live Fast' approach to life," Foss stated,  "and UFC is the perfect venue for us to market our brand."
