If UFC is really going to buy IFL, they're going to get a tape library and
not much else. IFL's top star, the exciting lightweight sensation Chris
Horodecki has signed a three-fight deal with Affliction Mixed Martial
Arts.
What makes the signing so interesting is that Affliction seems most
interested in the heavyweight division, with Fedor Emelianenko as the top star.
Now, the signing of Horodecki puts Affliction on the map in more than one weight
division. The 20 year old Horodecki, the babyface fighter who turns 21 in
September, has an 8-1 record in the IFL. He lost the IFL Lightweight Title to
Ryan Schultz in December.
While Affliction is fairly strong in the heavier weight classes, the addition
of Horodecki bolsters the lighter end of its scale. Horodecki doesn't turn 21
until September, which also means that -- in contrast to the signings of many
established stars by Affliction -- he can be groomed by the promotion as a
rising star.
Horodecki is scheduled to debut on Affliction: Day of Reckoning, which will
take place on October 11th.
No word yet on his opponent.
Great signing for Affliction, a major move in its competitor status against
UFC.
