Steve Cofield of Fox News summed it up best when he wrote "You can't look more powerful and lose."
Really, I thought Lesnar was just a monster, a hulking, bullying, brutal, vicious, punishing fighter who came to play an A-game.
Cofield was obviously also impressed by Lesnar. You can read his entire report here: http://msn.foxsports.com/boxing/story/7752816/Reality-bites:-Mir-submits-Lesnar-at-UFC-81?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=209.
The story says it all:
You can't look more powerful and lose.
Brock Lesnar overwhelmed Frank Mir for the first 80 seconds, but this is the world of jiu-jitsu. It was simply too much, too soon at UFC 81 in Las Vegas.
Lesnar put on a powerful show with two easy takedowns. The first one came seven seconds in. Lesnar started to bomb Mir with punches and hammerfists. Mir was in trouble but Lesnar popped Mir in the back of the head with one of the punches. Referee Steve Mazzagatti stopped the fight, got the fighters to their feet and took a point away from Lesnar.
Lesnar got the second takedown with 4:20 left in the round and then dropped 20-plus punches on Mir. Mir twice went for an armbar and Lesnar simply powered out. On a third attempt, Lesnar tried to stand up but left his leg there. Mir got Lesnar's left leg in a knee bar. Lesnar was forced to tap.
"I went for a couple of armbar attempts," said Mir, chuckling at how big Lesnar was. "I knew his legs were a little leaner. When he pulled the leg back, I drove into it."
