NBC PRESENTS THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF WRESTLEMANIA - THE
WORLD TELEVISION PREMIERE ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 29 AT 9PM/8C
New York, NY - August 10, 2009 - For the first time
ever, NBC and World Wrestling Entertainment, the leader in global family
entertainment, have combined high-impact WWE action with music from some
of the industry's biggest stars to present "The 25th Anniversary of
WrestleMania - The World Television Premiere" on Saturday, August 29 at 9
pm ET/8c. The special will relive all the action and excitement of
WrestleMania 25 in one lightning-fast hour of groundbreaking music
television.
On April 5, 2009, WrestleMania 25 raised the bar to new
heights with a crowd larger than Super Bowl XLIII, A-list music and, of
course, heart-pounding action from the world's greatest athletes and
entertainers, the Superstars and Divas of WWE. A crowd of more than 72,000
fans representing 24 countries and all 50 states packed Houston's Reliant
Stadium to witness history in the making.
For one night only on network television, and presented
in breathtaking High Definition, viewers will be able to see the
eye-popping 25th Anniversary grandeur, mind-blowing pyrotechnics and
non-stop action. WWE Superstars such as John Cena, the legendary Stone
Cold Steve AustinTM, Triple H and Big Show kept those in attendance, and
the millions more watching around the world, on the edge of their seats.
But it was the Undertaker facing Shawn Michaels that tore the house down.
An instant classic, this confrontation is considered one of the greatest
matches in all of WWE history. A roller coaster of emotion and physicality
with an outcome to match, this masterpiece will have the WWE Universe
buzzing for the next 25 years.
Every year A-list celebrities from all genres of
entertainment take part in the WrestleMania celebration. This year, Mickey
Rourke rocked the ring. The Golden Globe winning and Oscar nominated star
of "The Wrestler" got caught up in the action and interjected himself into
a match, making headlines around the world.
The one-hour special will feature mainstream, rock, pop
and hip-hop from today's biggest artists including AC/DC, Korn, The Hives,
Borne, Ryan Star, Hollywood Undead and Kevin Rudolf.
