Welcome to our live ongoing coverage of WWE SummerSlam from the Staples
Center in Los Angeles, California.
Rey Mysterio defended the Intercontinental Title against Dolph Ziggler. No
Maria. Rey won by reversing Zigger's attempt to do a super gut buster
while standing on the middle rope into a huracanrana. Crowd was into the
match.
Chris Jericho and Big Show defended the Unified Tag Team Titles against
Cryme Time. This match had some time, and you could tell Jericho and Big Show
were trying to make Cryme Time really look good.
Kane pinned The Great Khali in what has to be considered a big waste of
time.
D/X beat Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes when HBK pinned Cody Rhodes.
ECW Champion Christian pinned William Regal in 8 seconds. After the match,
Christian got beat up by Big Zeke and Vladmir Kozlov. Then Regal put Christian
in the Regal Stretch. A total waste of time.
Randy Orton pinned John Cena to retain the WWE Title. First, Orton got
disqualified for shoving the nameless referee, who happened to be Scott
Armstrong. Lilian Garcia announced the winner "and new WWE Champion"
Randy Orton. Then she changed it, said Cena won by disqualification. Then she
said Vince McMahon was ordering the match to continue and if Orton got DQ'd
he'd lose the title. Orton then walked out and was counted out.
Lilian announced that Cena won via COR, but Vince ordered the match to
continue. This time if Orton was counted out again, he'd lose the
title. Then Orton got the pin using the ropes and he was announced the
winner. So another referee comes out, and tells Armstrong what happened,
so we re-start the match again. Cena hooks the STF, but a plant hits the ring
and jumps on the ref. So it's re-started again. Orton snaps Cena's neck in the
ropes, hits the RKO and pins Cena.
CM Punk won the World Heavyweight Championship after a spectacular TLC
Match with Jeff Hardy. The end of the match saw Jeff lay Punk out on an
announcers table and dive off a really high ladder and put Punk through the
table. Doctors and trainers came out and put Jeff on a stretcher with a neck
brace. Punk crawled into the ring. Jeff got off the stretcher, flung off his
neck brace. They fought at the top of the ladder, and Jeff crashed to the
canvas. Punk got the title. Then Punk stood over Jeff as the lights flickered.
Then the lights went out, and the Undertaker's music hit. When the lights came
back on, it was Taker lying under Punk, not Jeff. Taker grabbed Punk by the
throat and chokeslammed him.
